Upcoming event: Saturday, October 5!

Next tour guide along part of colonial Montevideo's fortifications-"De cubo a cubo"- Saturday, October 5!

We start from Las Bóvedas square (Rambla Portuaria and Juan Carlos Gómez), at 11:00AM. Tickets can be purchased from 10 AM to 4 PM at Espacio Cultural Al Pie de la Muralla (Bartolomé Mitre 1464), or that same Saturday starting at 10 AM.

This guided tour along colonial Montevideo's fortifications, starting at Las Bóvedas square (Rambla 25 de Agosto), all the way to Cubo del Sur (southern tower), allows participants to get to know the city from a different perspective with stories, music and observation of patrimonial remains, guided by specialists and accompanied by characters from the colonial past.
"De cubo a cubo" (from tower to tower) was first born five years ago, as an original idea from Espacio Cultural Al Pie de la Muralla. Today it is part of Montevideo's cultural agenda and is advertised as a tourist attraction for appreciating and understanding the local patrimony.
This cultural tour has a differentiated cost for Uruguayan citizens and tourists.
It takes place the first Saturday of each month, at 11AM, starting at Las Bóvedas square, Rambla Portuaria between Ituzaingó and Juan Carlos Gómez.

About us

Cultural space Al Pie de la Muralla first opened its doors on September 1, 2004, and it was declared of municipal interest that same year. To date, it has been visited by more than 2500 people, including Día del Patrimonio (heritage day).
Al Pie de la Muralla's activities involve music, art, education, and more, always trying to disseminate diverse cultural manifestations.
Educational program "Diálogos con la Historia" (dialogues with history), is addressed to primary and secondary school students, both from public and private institutions.
Its main objective is remarking how important it is for a country to learn about its past, from its historical heritage.
Also, it aims to help constructing a citizenship that is responsible for sociesty's goods, as well as understanding its past with a contemporary look.
All the activities are held in an interactive way with those offered by theatrical group "En el Ruedo", with Ernesto Soca and Lucía García in charge, in such way that students can experience the local history.
